ANNOUNCEMENTS

It was wonderful seeing everyone at the recent TODA convention. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the TODA Board for hosting a fantastic event and allowing us to partner with them.

As we look ahead, we have several exciting projects in motion. Please review and complete the two action items below by Sunday, July 26th so we can properly plan for the upcoming school year.

1. Call for Presenters, Hosts, and Consultants

We are looking for members interested in presenting, hosting, or consulting on orchestra-teaching topics. After compiling this list, we will share it directly with Fine Arts Directors to arrange professional development scheduling. This is an excellent opportunity to raise your visibility with the leaders who need your expertise most.

  • Action: Please complete this short Survey to share your interest.

2. Join a Standing Committee (Volunteers Needed)

We invite Active Members to serve on our standing committees. To ensure our leadership reflects our entire community, we are seeking balanced geographic representation across the DFW, Houston, Austin/San Antonio, and West/South/East Texas regions.

Available committees include:

  • Chapter Membership: Evaluates new member nominations.

  • Kathy Fishburn Excellence in Orchestra Award: Selects the annual recipient (awarded to a Texas director with 15+ years of service).

  • Mentor Committee: Directs and supports the chapter’s mentorship program.

  • Public Relations: Promotes Mu Omicron and maintains our website.

  • Professional Development & Conferences: Recruits and guides session proposals for major conferences and regional workshops.

  • Clinic/Grant Committee: Connects orchestra programs in need with qualified clinicians.

  • Action: Please complete this Form to be matched with a committee.

Thank you for your time, dedication, and prompt response as we prepare for a great year ahead.
